While CBD has many beneficial effects, it does have interactions with other medications AND some can be FATAL if not taken with precautions‼ CBD is metabolized by CYP3A4 enzyme. Many conventional prescription medications and over the counter medications are also metabolized by this same CYP3A4 enzyme. Therefore, they will compete to be metabolized and CBD or the conventional medication can be elevated in the body.
For example, if a person is on warfarin (an anti-clotting drug), CBD can increase its level, putting him/her at risk of severe internal bleeding.
Another example: clopidrogel (an anti-platelet drug often used for stroke prevention), CBD can make clopidrogel less effective which will put a person at risk of having another stroke.
Therefore, it is very important to consult with your health care practitioner before you try any CBD products if you are on any medications. Also, let your family members and friends know!
